George Mason University Libraries seeks a creative, dedicated and collegial librarian to join its five-member Sciences & Technology Liaison Librarians Team. Incumbent will assume responsibilities for Biology (http://biology.gmu.edu/) - Fairfax campus, Environmental Science & Policy (http://esp.gmu.edu/), Atmospheric, Oceanic & Earth Sciences (http://aoes.gmu.edu/), and Psychology (http://psychology.gmu.edu/). As liaison librarian, the principal foci include: research consultation and advanced reference, instruction, collection development, and outreach to faculty and students in these disciplines.

As a key member of the Fenwick Library Reference Department, incumbent advances the strategic initiatives of the University Libraries and the university by: developing and maintaining research portals; creating, delivering and providing responsive and innovative research services and resources via in-person and virtual reference assistance, office hours, and one-on-one and/or group research consultations for these departments; instructing users in disciplinary research resources, strategies and tools; refining and expanding instructional skills and incorporating available, relevant technologies; developing student/faculty engagement through faculty collaboration on assignments, course design, and pedagogical strategies; developing library research collections in these disciplines; promoting library services to faculty and students and staying current on trends, issues and needs in scientific research, including scholarly communication activities; supporting data use and curation by scholars in these areas, in concert with the Libraries? Data Services Group; providing general reference assistance to users in various academic disciplines; understanding of the changes and challenges in current higher education and research librarianship.
